I found a most excellent new band. It doesn't matter HOW I found them, because it CLEARLY wasn't while browsing Mandy Moore's celebrity playlist on iTunes. The point being, however, that they're really good. They're called The Weepies and I guess I would call it folk. But you guys should all give it a listen.
Anyone else find good music lately? I really appreciated the old list (Laura's I really liked some of those bands, especially), so let's keep adding things.

I recently picked up the new Flaming Lips. It's quite a satisfactory listen if your a Lips fan. I wouldn't peg it as great at the achievements of The Soft Bulletin or even Yoshimi, but it's definitely worth a spin.
If your into heavy/epic music a la Explosions in the Sky, check out a band called Pelican.
On another note, Tool is coming out with a new album on May 2nd.

Joanna Newsom and Neutral Milk Hotel (sorry, I'm running short on new bands, I don't have any way of getting new music here so I've mostly been listening to oldies but goodies).

Sweet!! I'd heard about this before but forgot about it. Also, just wanted to repeat my plug for NPR's All Songs Considered; they have lots of live concerts on their website, a weekly podcast that I really enjoy, and lots of other cool free music to sample: www.npr.org/programs/asc/
