Hey everybody,
I kind of just realized, thanks to an email from Adriana, that this forum was being used...a few weeks ago when I got here nobody was using it, so I'd only been checking the blog section. Anyway, I especially like all the anonymous insult-throwing.
I'm chilling here in the non-air-conditioned internet cafe, as usual, since we have no prospects of getting internet in our house still any time soon. The big news here is the power outages: apparently the city of Cape Town and the national electricity company, Eskom, are stupid and have completely dropped the ball on providing electricity to the entire province, so all the generators have been breaking and we've been having rolling power outages for a week. Sort of nice in that some lectures have been cancelled in rooms with no windows, but sort of annoying when you want to make some dinner and realize you don't have anything to eat that doesn't have to be microwaved or boiled or baked or something that requires electricity.
Well I'm planning to write another email update soon, so I won't give away all the news, but hopefully you will all respond with your clever witticisms. I really miss you all a lot--I think it didn't really occur to me that when you go off to another part of the world, it's pretty impossible to quickly find replacements for the friends that you've spent two years finding and getting close to. But people here are cool, too. Just not AS cool. Speaking of which, Eddie and I are hitting up London and Oxford next weekend--super excited! Noah and Dan (or Lisa), do you have any suggestions of where we should stay in London besides our sketchy ass hostel from last time?
